Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction NC 500
Description:
This course is only open to public sector employees and employees/employers in NAICS code 23. This course is designed for personnel in the public sector and for industries that are identified under the North Carolina Special Emphasis Construction Program who are interested in teaching the 10 and 30 hour construction safety and health outreach program to their employees. Special emphasis is placed on those topics that are required in the 10 and 30 hour programs. Course participants are briefed on effective instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to become a trainer in the Outreach Program and to conduct both a 10 and 30 hour construction safety and health course and to issue cards to participants verifying course completion.
Prerequisites:
Prerequisites include the NC 510 (OSH 30-Hour Construction Industry Awareness Course) or the OTI 510 course and five years of construction safety experience. These courses must have been completed within the past five years. The applicant must have at least one year of experience training employees on relevant safety and health topics. The training experience must have occurred within the last five years. A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), in the applicable training area may be substituted for two years of experience. Note: Students in Course NC 500 who wish to participate as authorized trainers in the Outreach Program must present a safety topic and successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course. Outreach trainers are required to attend Course NC 502 at least once every four years to maintain their trainer status.
